MRA Research Awards

 

 

2009

The MRA awarded 8.5 million dollars to individual scientists and teams of scientists pursuing innovative melanoma research proposals. This second cycle of MRA awards focuses on research that addresses the gap in translational science. These proposals were reviewed and scored by a Grant Review Committee co-chaired by Dr. Suzanne Topalian of Johns Hopkins University and Dr. David Fisher of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

 

» Young Investigator Awards - MRA awarded three young investigators $225,000 over two years, whose work has the potential to transform melanoma diagnosis and treatment.
   
» Established Investigator Awards - MRA awarded six investigators who have committed their research careers to oncology and are pursuing novel ideas in melanoma research $250,000 over the next two years.
   
» Pilot Awards - MRA awarded three researchers with pilot awards, $100,000 over two years, to pursue first-of-its-kind approaches to melanoma prevention and treatment.
   
» Development Award - MRA provided a development award of $50,000 for one year, to a researcher whose work shows great promise for advancing the understanding and treatment of melanoma.
   
» Team Science Awards - The MRA awarded seven teams pursing multidisciplinary translational research.

2008

The MRA first grant cycle awarded a total of eight million dollars to fund 17 proposals in the U.S. and abroad. These proposals were reviewed and scored by a Grant Review Committee chaired by Dr. Suzanne Topalian of Johns Hopkins University.

» Established Investigator Awards - MRA awarded eight investigators whose work shows great promise in melanoma research, $200,000 over two years.
   
» Team Science Awards - MRA awarded six team science awards of $1,000,000 over three years.
